Summer break

"With which childishness I spent beautiful summer days, you do not guess?" It was really hard to guess what Brahms was doing in Bad Ischl in the summer of 1889, and not even Clara Schumann would have guessed. While other summer guests indulged in leisure, he was kissed by the Muse and completely reworked his Piano Trio Opus 8. So even that's a way to spend the summer!
Whichever way you choose, the Musikverein wishes you a nice, sunny, relaxing summer. We meet again on September 6, 2018 in the Musikverein. On the program of the season-opening concert with Emanuel Ax, Leonidas Kavakos and Yo-Yo Ma is the "Childishness" from Brahms's beautiful summer days: the Piano Trio Opus 8, flanked by the sister works op. 87 and 101.

Guided tours

As one of the world's most beautiful concert halls and most decorative and striking buildings on Vienna's Ringstrasse, the Musikverein can be best appreciated in the setting of a concert. However, the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde is also opening the doors of this magnificent building for public tours.
