The snowman in the Brahms-Saal
Review of the production of Walter Samuel Bartussek for our Allegretto children: Pierrot, a poor musician, loves Columbine, who is so closely guarded by her jealous guardian Pantalone that the two young people can hardly ever get together. Then a snowman takes the initiative and decides to help.
Erich Wolfgang Korngold was only 11 years old when he wrote the enchanting story and put it into music. Emperor Franz Joseph also appeared for the successful premiere in the Hofoper. For Korngold's 120th birthday, the story of the adventurous snowman was retold.
