Current information on events

taking into account the prevention of infection with COVID-19

Please note the applicable admission requirements for your concert visit:

  • 2G Regulation = at least 2 Vaccinations or Recovered (events with 26 to 499 people).
  • 2G+ Regulation = at least 2 Vaccinations or Recovered PLUS PCR-tested (events with 500 to 999 persons)
    The PCR test is necessary even if you have already been vaccinated 3 times!
  • Booster+ Regulation = 3 Vaccinations PLUS PCR-tested or Recovererd and 2 Vaccinations PLUS PCR-tested (events with 1000 to 2000 persons)

Persons 14 years and older are also required to wear FFP2 masks throughout the building. Audience between 6 and 14 years old can alternatively wear a mouth-nose protection.

For audiences over 15 years of age, the regulations listed in the following table apply to the respective concerts:

In addition, we ask you to observe the following admission rules and informations:

  • Participation in a guided tour: 2G regulation
  • At the box office: 2G regulation (please show the 2G proof directly)
  • Children under 6 years of age: No admission restrictions
  • Children between 6 and 12 years old: Admission is possible if vaccinated, recovered or tested (3G regulation).
  • Adolescents between 12 and 15 years old: Admission is possible if vaccinated, recovered or PCR-tested (2.5G regulation).
  • If you are planning to attend a concert with children, please note the regulations regarding attending a concert with children.
  • If you are visiting the Musikverein as part of a guided tour, please note the applicable regulations under information on guided tours.
  • Instructions of the ushers must be followed.
  • A change of seat is not permitted, except when requested by the staff.
  • The Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde is obliged to pass on customer data to the authorities upon request should a corona infection occur.
  • When participating in the concert, ticket buyers agree to provide the names and contact details of their accompanying persons as requested by the authorities.
  • We ask you to refrain from going to the concert if you have symptoms of illness.

Test possibilities in Vienna

The nearest test facility for antigen testing is the Stubentor test lane, which can be reached most quickly by streetcar line 2 if you are at the Musikverein. The test lane is open Monday to Sunday from 6h to 21h. Registration and appointment reservation is required. Both can be done online.

PCR tests can be performed in Vienna at the following locations, among others:

Test streets, "Gurgelboxen" and the campaign "Alles gurgelt!" are also free for guests from abroad, but registration is necessary.

Vaccinated

  • up to 270 days after the second vaccination with vaccine from the manufacturers BioNTech/Pfizer, Moderna, Johnson & Johnson or AstraZeneca
  • up to 270 days after vaccination following a proven infection
  • As of 03.01.2022, the vaccination certificate of a single Johnson & Johnson vaccination is no longer valid. A booster vaccination with an approved vaccine must be given which is valid for 270 days from the date of administration.
  • up to 270 days after the third vaccination 
  • Wearing a FFP2 mask is mandatory during the entire stay in the music club.

Only the vaccines from the above-mentioned manufacturers are approved in the European Union and therefore also for event attendance.

Recovered

  • up to 180 days after recovery from an infection that has been detected by PCR test and can be confirmed by a medical certificate or an official segregation order
  • Wearing a FFP2 mask is mandatory during the entire stay in the Musikverein.

Evidence of neutralizing antibodies is NOT valid as proof of entry anymore.

Please bring appropriate proof for each visitor to a concert or guided tour. For children, a suitable proof of age must also be shown (e-card, mother-child passport, passport, etc.). Children under the age of 6 are exempt from all regulations. On-site testing is not possible.

Tested (persons over 12 years of age):

  • Adolescents between 12 and 15, unless vaccinated or recovered, may attend events with a valid molecular biology test (PCR) (2.5-G rule)
  • a molecular biological test (PCR) by authorized body is valid until 48 hours after sample collection
  • If the PCR test result does not arrive in time, a negative antigen test that is not older than 24 hours at the end of the event entitles the person to attend the event. (6th Amendment to the 6th COVID-19 Protective Measures Ordinance, valid from 11.01.2022)
  • Wearing a MNP (only for persons up to 14 years) / FFP2 mask is mandatory during the entire stay in the music club. 

Tested (Children between 6 and 12 years):

  • Antigen test by an authorized body up to 48 hours after sample collection
  • Molecular biology test (PCR) by authorized body until 72 hours after sample collection
  • The "Ninja Passport" is accepted as proof of testing for visitors up to the age of 12: If complete, it is valid for the entire week, including weekends, if incomplete then the last individual test with the respective validity applies

Exceptions

  • Concert visitors whose second vaccination (except Johnson & Johnson) was given less than 120 days ago may also attend events subject to the Booster+ regulation with a valid PCR test.
  • In case of a first vaccination with Johnson & Johnson and a second vaccination with the vaccine from BioNTech/Pfizer or Moderna, the second vaccination is considered a booster vaccination.
  • Concert visitors who cannot be vaccinated for medical reasons require an appropriate medical certificate and a negative PCR test, the sample of which must have been taken no longer than 48 hours before the end of the event.
  • If the PCR test result does not arrive in time, a negative antigen test that is not older than 24 hours at the end of the event entitles the person to attend the event provided that the vaccination or recovery can be proven. (6th Amendment to the 6th COVID-19 Protective Measures Ordinance, valid from 11.01.2022)
  • Vaccinated or recovered persons who can credibly demonstrate that the provision of a PCR test was not possible due to unavailable or limited testing capacities outside Vienna can also present an antigen test that is not older than 24 hours at the end of the event. 
  • Pregnant, unvaccinated concert attendees may attend events subject to the 2G regulation upon presentation of a negative PCR test. This exception does NOT apply to events where the 2G+ or Booster+ regulation applies.
