Overlapping dates

As a rule, subscription concert tickets cannot be exchanged or refunded.

However, an exception is made where concerts within two separate Musikverein subscription concert series share the same date or programme. If you have ordered tickets for the same concert within two different concert series, or if two concerts happen to be at the same time in two different halls, we will provide you with an “exchange coupon” for one ticket up to one week before the scheduled concert to the value of the ticket that is no longer required. This exchange coupon can either be used as a voucher for a ticket until the end of the current season or otherwise be refunded.

Alterations of concerts

The Musikverein reserves the right to make changes to scheduled performers, dates and programmes, and to undertake stage and set alterations.

Such occurrences do not confer the right to have ticket costs refunded. Subscribers to concerts will be informed by email where the Musikverein receives information of such changes in time to do so. Changes to scheduled subscription concerts resulting from cancellations will not entitle subscription ticket holders to a refund.

Commission

If it is not possible for you as a subscription concert customer to attend a concert that forms part of your chosen concert series, we will be happy to offer your ticket for resale through the box-office.

In order to do so, we require the original subscription ticket and customers should note that without the original ticket, we will be unable to offer it for resale. If we succeed in reselling tickets, members will receive 100% and subscribers 90% of the original ticket price (for a maximum of two concerts within one subscription series). The refunded amount may be collected at any time until the end of the concert season from the daytime Box Office during Mon-Fri 9:00-18:00 and Sat 9:00-13:00 upon presentation of the resale order (Kommissionsschein)

Lost subscription tickets?

If you have lost, mislaid or forgotten to bring your subscription ticket, we can print a replacement ticket for you.

However, this is only possible at the evening Box Office within one hour of the scheduled concert start time. To avoid misunderstandings, we will require your membership or subscriber number and the exact location of your seats. Without this information it will not be possible to reprint your subscription ticket. Replacement tickets cannot be given up for resale. Please note that tickets without designated seating (freie Platzwahl) cannot be reprinted.

Title pages of the subscription brochure

On the service pages are detailed photographs of papers of the 18th and 19th century, as they were then made and used for bindings and preamble of books and notes. The selected papers are produced in various craft techniques and give a small insight into the variety of such papers, which "at first glance" should express joy and appreciation for books and music. They were all selected and photographed for the subscription brochure from the archive and library of the Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde in Vienna.
