Current information on events

taking into account the prevention of infection with COVID-19

The Society of Friends of Music in Vienna must take the following measures for events due to official requirements:

  • Concert attendance is only possible if tested, vaccinated or recovered. The validity periods set by the federal government apply:
    tested
    - antigen test by an authorized body up to 48 hours after sample collection
    - molecular biological test by an authorized body up to 72 hours after sample collection
    vaccinated
    - from 22 days after the first vaccination up to 90 days
    - up to 270 days after the second vaccination
  • recovered
    - up to 180 days after recovery and
    - 90 days extension by antibody detection
Please bring appropriate proof for each visitor to the concert. On-site testing is not possible.
  • Obligation to wear a mask
    - The rules of the retail trade apply at the Musikverein's box office. Persons over the age of 6 must wear a tight-fitting mechanical protective device covering the mouth and nose area ("mouth-nose protection") while at the Musikverein box office.
    - When entering the Musikverein to attend an event, the 3-G rule applies. However, due to the ordinance of the City of Vienna, wearing a mouth-nose protection or FFP2 mask is also mandatory for the entire duration of the stay.
  • If you are planning to attend a concert with children, please note the regulations regarding attending a concert with children.
  • Instructions of the ushers must be followed.
  • Passing on concert tickets is not permitted.
  • A change of seat is not permitted, except when requested by the staff.
  • The Gesellschaft der Musikfreunde is obliged to pass on customer data to the authorities upon request should a corona infection occur.
  • When participating in the concert, ticket buyers agree to provide the names and contact details of their accompanying persons as requested by the authorities.
  • Concert tickets purchased anonymously are no longer valid but can be exchanged for personalized tickets free of charge at the box-office.
  • We ask you to refrain from going to the concert if you have symptoms of illness.

How does the concert visit work?

  • Admission to the building and the concert hall is 60 minutes before the start of the concert.

  • Due to the special circumstances we are unfortunately unable to offer you our commission service. Instead, subscribers can cancel their tickets up to 14 days before the concert date without any deductions. Cancellation is possible after written notification (e-mail or letter) or in person at the box office.
  • After the above-mentioned return option has expired, the seating plans of each concert will be checked for compliance with the distance regulation. We will contact those customers who need to change their seat separately.
  • We will announce any program changes separately on our website and by e-mail.
  • As usual, the box-office is open one hour before the start of the event.

  • The start of advance booking is regulated individually from concert to concert and depends on the booking situation through subscriptions and programmatic decisions.
  • In many cases, advance booking will start later than usual, but as early as possible.
  • You can still be reminded of the start of advance booking for the individual concerts via our website and will be informed by e-mail on the first day of advance booking.
  • If the booking situation allows this through subscriptions, tickets can be booked directly on the homepage at the beginning of the presale.
  • There is a possibility that no tickets are available at the start of advance booking, but we expect tickets to become available. For those concerts it will be possible to put your ticket request on the online waiting list.

  • Tested/Cured
    - Children up to the age of 6 do not have to provide proof that they have been tested or have recovered. They may, of course, still be tested voluntarily and we recommend that they do so. Please note that on-site testing is not available.
    - Children over the age of 6 must present a negative test result or a survived COVID infection at the music club. The officially established validity periods for tested and recovered individuals apply. Please bring appropriate proof for yourself and your children to the concert visit, testing on site is not possible.
  • Obligation to wear a mask
    - Children 6 years of age and older must wear a tight-fitting mechanical device covering the mouth and nose area (mouth-nose protection)  from the time they enter until they leave.
  • Proof of age
    - The age of children and young people must be proven in a suitable form when entering the Musikverein building (e-card, mother-child passport, passport, etc.).

Please ensure that you and your children observe hygiene etiquette and keep a safe distance from other concert-goers.
