Igor Levit 

Fantasien, Fugen, Variationen: Igor Levit sucht in einem spannenden Soloprogramm die Freiräume, die sich aus dem scheinbar Festgelegten ergeben können. Ende Oktober kehrt er als Solist in Mozarts Es-Dur-Konzert, KV 482, erneut nach Wien zurück.

An seinen ersten Klavierabend im Großen Saal des Wiener Musikvereins kann er sich noch gut erinnern. 2013 war das, Igor Levit sollte für Maurizio Pollini einspringen. Fünf Stunden vorher habe man ihn angerufen in Hannover, eine Dreiviertelstunde vor Konzertbeginn landete Levits Flugzeug in Wien. Pollini, damals 71 Jahre alt, hätte Chopin und Schumann gespielt. Levit, damals 26 Jahre alt, spielte nicht Chopin und Schumann. Von Chopin hat Levit vor kurzem in einem Interview gesagt, dass er sich „wie ein Idiot“ vorkomme, wenn er sich daran versuche. Vielleicht denken das von dem einen oder anderen romantischen Klavierkomponisten ob der exorbitanten Bekanntheit und Fallhöhe andere Pianisten genauso – Levit allerdings sagt es auch, frei heraus. Dass er – bisher – nicht frei atmen könne bei Chopin. Levit bezieht sein körperliches Gefühl, wie stets so auch hier, bei der Repertoirewahl mit ein. In Wien spielte Igor Levit damals zwei späte Beethoven-Sonaten und Frederic Rzewskis 36 Klaviervariationen „The People United Will Never Be Defeated“ über ein chilenisches Revolutionslied, komponiert 1975. Ein monströses Stück Neue Musik, ein Koloss der jüngsten Klavierliteratur, an den sich nicht viele je gewagt haben. Igor Levit war sich bewusst, dass dies als Teil eines Klavierabends in Wien nichts Selbstverständliches war. Es habe während des Konzerts auch Gegenwind gegeben. „Es gab aber vor allem eine Welle der Unterstützung. Es ist ja auch ein tolles Stück.“
