Cecilia Bartoli kommt mit betörend schönen Arien erneut in den Großen Saal des Wiener Musikvereins – einen Ort, an dem sie Triumphe feierte und das Publikum zu Begeisterungsstürmen animierte. Die künstlerische Auseinandersetzung mit Leid und Glück in Antonio Vivaldis Musik führt sie mit feinster Klinge. Wahre Entdeckungen aus dessen über neunzig Opern bieten hierfür den vokalen Fundus  

Neugierigen Spaziergängern ist es vermutlich schon längst und wiederholt aufgefallen. Unweit des Wiener Musikvereins, schräg vis-a-vis, Adresse Karlsplatz 13, erinnert eine Gedenktafel an Vivaldis Ende in Wien. „An dieser Stelle befand sich bis 1789 der Bürgerspitals- oder Armensünder-Gottesacker / Antonio Vivaldi / geboren am 4. März 1678 in Venedig wurde hier am 28. Juli 1741 begraben.“ 62-jährig hatte der Star von einst sein berufliches Glück in Wien gesucht – der einst so strahlende Stern des berühmten Venezianers war schon zehn Jahre zuvor zunehmend verblasst. Die Zeit legte ihre Schatten auf ihn. Der musikalische Geschmack, die Ästhetik des Ansprechenden hatten sich verändert. Der frühe wie unerwartete Tod Kaiser Karls VI. (1740), auf dessen Fürsprache und Unterstützung Vivaldi in Wien hoffte, tat sein Übriges. Antonio Vivaldis „Fünfte Jahreszeit“ brach an, und bis auf die immergrünen „Vier Jahreszeiten“ schienen seine prächtigen Werke vergessen.
