In 2008 Musikverein Vienna started its first series of school concerts for children aged 10 to 14. As according to Heraklit 500 b. c. education means to ignite flames, not to fill up barrels, a lot of sparkling should be going on „ClassiX“ concerts.
Young musicians from Sinfonietta Baden perform key works of the classical repertoire, host Veronika Mandl will provide information and fun, as Veronika is teacher at the Vienna University of Music and member of the renown CliniClowns which bring laughter and hope to children in hospitals.
Pupils will be encouraged to take part in the concerts, and in comparing up to date DVDs to the classical performances they will find out that there are lots of connections between pop and rock and classical music. The only important thing: high quality.
